AA Academic & Opportunities Directories

The Academic & Opportunities Directories are resources to help you advise your students comprehensively. By drawing upon other associate advisors’ academics and opportunities/activities, you will have access to a variety of broad and diverse experiences.

2024 Academics Directory:

The Academics Directory is separated into General Institute Requirements, majors, minors and concentration. It also includes class recommendations that can guide your registration meetings with your advisees and can also be helpful if your advisee is struggling with a specific class. This resource isn’t intended to serve as be a tutoring tool, since you should be directing your advisees to MIT’s tutoring resources.

2024 Opportunities Directory:

The Opportunities Directory is separated into UROP, MISTI and student organizations. It is intended to provide you with ideas to help your advisees explore MIT’s opportunities. Limited descriptions are provided for the various activities. This way, your advisee can follow up directly with the AA for more details.

Guidelines on How to Use the Directory

– How to Refer your Advisees ↓

A referral occurs when your advisee asks a question about a class, major or another opportunity that you are not familiar with but find another AA who does. You would then email the AA, cc your advisee, to make an introduction and a warm hand off so that your advisee is now connected to the AA with the related experience.

– When you’re Contacted ↓

You would receive an email from an associate advisor, or UAC advisor, making an introduction introduction to your advisee who then follow up directly with them.

– Confidentiality ↓

The information in the AA Directories will only be shared within the UAC advisors and with 2024-2025 associate advisors as a referral tool for your advisees or other first-year students you are supporting and only iincludes information from the associate advisors who submitted it. If you are interested in including your information, please email Kurt-Michael Songcog.
