Welcome to MIT! We are so excited to have you join our community.

To help you build a strong foundation for your MIT journey, Orientation is packed with opportunities to explore academic paths, engage in residential and community life, and bond with your fellow classmates and Orientation Leaders.

What to Expect:

(A New Orientation schedule for 2026!)

  • FPOPs: Start early with one of our 20+ First-Year Pre-Orientation Programs. Equal parts fun and educational, FPOPs are run by campus offices and academic departments.
  • Community: Kickoff Orientation with your new classmates. Meet people and discover what makes MIT so special.
  • Academics: Meet your first-year advising team, learn about academic opportunities, and connect with departments at the Academic Expo.
  • Living @ MIT: Spend time exploring residential options, meet upper-level students, and find your own community here in Cambridge.
  • Shape Your Future: Create balance between academics and personal wellbeing while learning how to make the most of your MIT experience.
